Common Software Questions
What is Visec ? Visec-Pro is the easiest to
use, and fastest surveillance software for NETWORK VIDEO RECORDERS (NVR) with
full support of IP cameras such as AXIS, IQEYE, Panasonic, Pixord, Arecont, and
generic support for standard mjpeg streams. Visec also supports H.264, the latest
technology in video compression. Visec-Pro is the professional edition, an enterprise
edition to our successful consumer edition of Visec. Visec Pro has Hybrid support
for nearly all directx hardware such as capture cards, fire wire, and USB cameras. (back
to top) How
does Visec work? Visec works by analyzing the video images that it receives
and then processes this video through a series of intelligent algorithms. Based
on the user's settings, this video is subsequently stored digitally on the user's
storage medium (hard drive or camera's internal flash memory) so that it can be
played back either live on the user's computer or remotely over the Internet.
Surveillance Cameras are only a small component of a security system. The Visec
software creates a synergy with this hardware, allowing users to have a surveillance
system comparable to a military grade system used to secure critical infrastructure.
While Visec incorporates sophisticated technology, it has been designed for ease
of use. In fact, the Visec interface is quite simple to use and is similar to
operating a DVD player. (back
to top) How
do I see video? Simply press one button to turn on the camera. You will
then see live video of the camera. The software is like using a DVD player. We
kept the interface and as easy a possible. (Watch our interactive videos too see
actual video instructions) (back
to top) What
is motion detection and how does that work? Visec® Proprietary Motion
Detection Technology (VPMD), is a powerful feature of Visec that can be set to
record when there is motion. A sophisticated algorithm processes video and can
determine if motion was detected like from someone walking in a room. This feature
is helpful because it only begins storing video when it detects movement, and
you can control the sensitivity. This also makes it easier for you to playback
video because you can just watch video when there is activity. The program gives
you full control to set the sensitivity of the motion, from small to very precise
levels. The VPMD means that you do not need to buy any external hardware sensors.
Any camera will work with this, since the motion detection is based on a software
based algorithm. (back to top) What
kind of Alert features does this have? Visec can email you a warning
every time it detects motion. As soon as motion is detected, you can have Visec
send you a picture of what transpired to your cell phone, PDA, office computer
or other internet enabled device that is capable of receiving emails. The warning
can consist of a picture of the specific motion that triggered the alert (e.g.
a stranger at your front door), a text message (e.g. Alert Camera 1 Front Door
- motion detected), or both. Visec can also upload (ftp) to an Internet website
all motion video coverage. With Visec, you can learn about events as they happen.
(Back to top) What
computers does this work on? The software is recommended to be used on
Windows 2000, XP, VISTA, Widows 7. Visec is multi threaded and works on both 32
bit and 64 bit installations of Windows. Visec will also run on parallels
software for MAC and its equivalent (back
to top) Can
I use multiple Cameras? Visec Pro can support as many cameras as a computer
can handle. Usually this equates from 16 - 64 cameras. This depends on the resolution,
frame rate, bandwidth, ram etc.
Note Visec's is sold on a licensing basis, from 4, 8, 16, 32, and 64 camera licenses.
E.g. a 4 camera license allows you to run a maximum of 4 cameras at the same time
while a 32 camera license would allow you to run 32 cameras at the same time.
(Back to top) Can
I use wireless camera? Yes, all wireless cameras are supported. Analog
cameras require a capture device. IP wireless cameras are digital and don't require
a capture device. We recommend that all wireless cameras be IP cameras because
(1) The video signal is an encrypted stream and prevents unwanted eavesdropping
and monitoring,(2) The distance can be more easily extended up to several miles
such as using a point to multipoint topology (3) There is virtually no interference
using an IP wireless camera because it a digital stream. (Back
to top) What
IP cameras does VISEC Support? Visec supports all major IP camera manufacturers
including: AXIS, Arecont, IQ, ACTI, Panasonic, Airlink, Aviosys, Connectec, Dlink,
Genius, EVo, Gadspot, Intellinet, Lynxs,NetSnap, Mobotix, Panasonic, Pixord, Raytalk,
Sweex, Toshiba, Trendnet, Vision Tech,Vivotek and generic support for standard
OEM and generic IP cameras. Visec also supports analog cameras via a PCI capture
card, USB capture devices and webcams.

To Secret Mode" button. Once in secret mode, no one will be able to see the
system. (Back to top) Can
